I ask because Egypt is a muslim country and I do not know what is the protocol in dressing. Thanks for your answers.

I have a friend that went to Egypt to teach english to school children and she was told to keep covered up….including her hair. Try finding light weight ankle length skirts and light weight long sleeve shirts.
FYI: My friend came home early because she had received death threats because she is American. BE CAREFUL!!!! Never go anywhere alone. Take an escort with you.

If I were you, I would try to wear clothes that fully cover your body. I don’t know all of their customs, but better safe than sorry. I would suggest finding yourself a burqa and a veil. Also, make sure you walk around in public with a male escort just to be on the safe side. I agree with the comment about playing it safer as an American. We aren’t the most liked people around the world right now (especially in the Middle East).
you can dress in any way you want in egypt..just make sure that the clothes are not to tight or to short,n u should be fine, and dont forget that egypt still has those local belly dancers that dont wear much at all..lol
You can wear whatever you like as long it is appropriate, You don’t need to be fully covered up in order to walk safely in egypt !!!!!
Wear clothes that are comfortable and acceptable to you but just be respectful of their culture. Dont wear mini skirts and half shirts. Long skirts and shirts to the elbow or wrist .
There are also christian egyptians , so wearing hijab ( the muslim head covering) is not mandatory.
People , i got no idea where you have come up with those recommendations , those movies gave you a twisted image of Egypt and arab countries .
Teresa, go to facebook, have some egyptian girls as friends, see their photos and how they may walk with tank tops and shorts or mini skirts in the streets !!
it’s pretty safe to wear what you like as long as it’s not exaggeratedly nude, that’s all … hope you enjoy your visit and stay .
Where what ever you feel comfortable wearing Just obey the Laws and have lots of fun in Egypt
It should not be revealing much, should not so tight or sexy. Avoid short skirts. You don’t have to cover your head or hair unless you visit religious places. On beaches and swimming pools you can wear as you like but thongs are not preferred.
In tourist areas it’s accepted to wear more freely, but in crowded or public areas it will not be comfortable.

i think you can wear any clothes in egypt the only time you need to be respectful is if you are visiting their mosques then they like you to be covered up but your holiday rep will let you know where you can go and what you should wear

Wear light, whiter clothes. Moslem women do cover their heads. Be alert to that. Old cliche “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”
I would suggest u clothes which covers your body ,looks decent n u shoud feel safe n comfort… not too short n not too tight…and “be a roman when ur in rome”

your clothes should not be tight, or really short. I would say skirts should be about knee length, you can wear short sleeve shirts but not tank tops. Wear clothes that are not revealing in anyway bec egyptian guys are quite desprete and are very crude. I am going to egypt too and i have to make sure fit their “standards”
