Question by D K: What tools did ancient Egyptians use to navigate?
Did ancient Egyptians (around Cleopatra’s time) invent any of their own tools to navigate, or did the use the basic compass? How did they create their maps and know the distance and location of things? Did they navigate by stars?

It was the Nile. It went up and down. Every Egyptian city be built along Nile. They just need to find port. It not like Egyptians be sailing oceans. They just be sailing rivers which go up and down or east and west.
