Question by ms.rika_0118: How hard is it for someone to visit the US from Egypt?
I have a friend that would like to visit the US from Egypt. He as filed papers for permanent citizenship and has been waiting since 1998 (is this normal?). Would it be possible for him to visit while he is waiting for this paperwork to go through? if so How? His parents and one brother already live in the US. He says it is very difficult for him to visit, why is this so? Is it possible for him to get the visitors visa and how long would that take?

I am very dumb in this subject and process so please explain fully! Thanks in advance for your answers!

you would need to file for a tourist visa … takes 6-8 weeks normally… it will give him 6 months time for visiting… also needs to call about his visa to see if they are missing information or need more information.. or what he can do to speed up the process of his visa.. i would visit their office or call … but the quickest way for him to come to the u.s.a. is to apply for a tourist visa… and wait for it in the mail…

A fading Egyptian police band arrives in Israel to play at the Arab Cultural Center. When they take the wrong bus, the band members find themselves in a desolate Israeli village. What follows is a series of plain but lovely scenes, as the Egyptians and Israelis (speaking English, their common language) tentatively search for common ground. Khaled (Saleh Bakri), the ladies man of the group (“Do you like Chet Baker?” is his favorite pick-up line), accompanies two young couples to a roller rink, where he comically helps the painfully timid Papi (Shlomi Avraham) connect with his date; meanwhile, the dignified but taciturn Tewfiq gradually warms to Dina’s manifest charms, and the other musicians share a rousing chorus of “Summertime” with their Israeli hosts. The Band’s Visit is filled with moments of humor, tenderness, tension, sadness, regret, and, as one character puts it, “tons of loneliness,” every one of them delivered without the slightest bit of pretension or manipulation (not to mention political or religious overtones). On their first day, the group started off in the morning with a long journey through Cairo – Ismailia road to the international medical center, the proposed location for doping control in the Egyptian Bidding file for 2010.

Cairo Stadium, the Sports Covered Halls Complex and the Olympic Committee premises were the next stops of the day for the delegation.

A full presentation of the Egyptian bidding file was delivered at the bidding committee headquarters by Hisham AZMY, Bid file coordinator, and Zoheir AMMAR, member of the Egyptian Football Association board.

After having lunch at El Shams Sporting Club, the journalists headed back to their hotel to conduct interviews with Egyptian football pioneers as they requested prior to their arrivals.

Dr. Ali El Din Hilal, Minister of Youth, will receive the delegation of foreign journalists at Ramsis Hilton to explain Egypt’s facilities, capabilities and its readiness to host the world cup in 2010 .

A dinner followed this meeting where the sponsors of the Egyptian file were present as well as distinguished guests and football celebrities.

In their second day in Egypt, the delegation of foreign journalists paid a courtesy visit to the EFA for half an hour. Taking the ring road, they will head to the Egyption Media Production City (EMPC) and the Egyptian satellite center as it is the suggested broadcasting center of the matches of 2010.

The CAF (Confederation Africaine de Football) would be their next stop before heading to the pyramids for a quick tour.

Wadi Degla Club is holding a lunch banquet for the journalists, where they will have the chance to see children playing football as they present the future of the Egyptian football.

After a short break in this tough day the journalists will attend a match between Zamalek and Safakes of Tunisia which will be held at Arab Contractors Stadium. A trip to Cairo could never be completed to a foreigner without visiting Khan El Khalili Bazaar where they will have dinner at Naguib Mahfouz café, compliment of Wadi Degla Club.

In their last day of visit to Egypt, the delegation of foreign journalists will head for Alexandria at the early hours of the morning. Their first stop will be the site of Borg Al-Arab Stadium, one of the nominated stadiums to host CAN 2006, where excavations have already started.

The National Museum and the Yacht Club are the next stop in Alexandria, where the latter will be the venue for lunch and from which the delegation will take a boat trip cruising the coast of Alexandria. Forty five minutes will be spent at the Bibliotheca of Alexandria before heading for Alexandria Stadium, one of the suggested training pitches, and at the end of the day they will return to Cairo. That wraps up the journalists’ visit to Egypt as on Friday they will all leave to their different destinations carrying different impressions and memories of Egypt.
