How do I find a reliable travel agent for local travel in Egypt?

Question by A K: How do I find a reliable travel agent for local travel in Egypt?
I recently read that finding reliable _local_ tour operators for travel in Egypt is difficult, and that hotels are often times part of fraud that either overcharge tourists or do not deliver on the promises made for local Egyptian travel packages (i.e. site seeing at the pyramids, day trip to Sakara, trip to Alexandria, etc.).

Please let me know your tips for finding a local and reliable Egyptian travel agent. Please note that I am not asking for any travel agent in particular but for how to go about finding one. Thanks!

I work in the field and it’s not easy at all to explain how you can find one. There are many good ones but for the normal tourist all what he can do is to check how they deal with tourists or clients. If they keep the word or not. If they are always careless or not.
I have many ways to judge reliable travel agents, but it can’t be available for tourists.

The adoption of web based marketing in the Travel and tourism industry: An empirical investigation in Egypt

Product Description
The main objective of this research is to increase academic understanding as well as provide managerial implications in relation to the determinants of the levels of web adoption for marketing purposes by small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Egypt. Web adoption is specifically defined in this research as the ownership of a website to communicate and/or deliver travel services to a target market. This research is thus interested in how the web is being used to interact with customers. Additionally, the levels of adoption represent the different levels that SMEs go through in their adoption process starting with not owning a website to being a simple adopter to being a sophisticated adopter. Non-adopters do not own a web site. Simple adopters own web pages that have facilities for information provision and communication whereas sophisticated adopters own web pages that have facilities for online booking and completing a full transaction online. It is worth noting that the levels of adoption are interrelated and are not static but are part of a process of eEvolution.

The 2011 Import and Export Market for Cotton Blankets and Travel Rugs in Egypt

Product Description
On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on cotton blankets and travel rugs in Egypt face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying cotton blankets and travel rugs to Egypt? How important is Egypt compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? How much do the imports of cotton blankets and travel rugs vary from one country of origin to another in Egypt? On the supply side, Egypt also exports cotton blankets and travel rugs. Which countries receive the most exports from Egypt? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers?

This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for cotton blankets and travel rugs in Egypt. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for cotton blankets and travel rugs for those countries serving Egypt via exports, or supplying from Egypt via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Egypt fits into the world market for imported and exported cotton blankets and travel rugs. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for Egypt in particular, is estimated using a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on both demand- and supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market destination. These shares lead to a volume of import and export values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the share that Egypt is likely to receive this year. From these figures, rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize Egypt compared to other major country markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information sources for strategic planning purposes.
