Belgique’s Dark Chocolate Truffle Gateau with Edible Gold at Chicago’s King Tut Exhibit Considered Health Food for Chocoholics

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 27, 2006

A Northern California gourmet chocolate company ‘Belgique’s’ founder and owner Linda Bartlett claims that their new ’23 carat Egyptian Gold Truffle Gateaux’ which is currently offered at Chicago’s Field Museum for the King Tut exhibit, is actually a health food with the same ingredients once enjoyed by the ancient Egyptians.

The dark Belgian chocolate Truffle Gateaux, which is baked like a brownie but with the rich taste of a truffle have the same primary ingredients once consumed by the ancient Egyptians, dark chocolate and edible gold. The ancient Egyptians believed it therapeutic and that by swallowing gold you would enjoy eternal life.

The antioxidant-rich compounds found in cocoa and dark chocolate – known as flavonoids – have recently been found to have a healthy effect on blood vessels as well as glucose metabolism. The use of gold either by injection or taken in tablet form has been reported beneficial in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

The 23 carat edible gold Truffle Gateaux are baked like a brownie but have the taste and texture of a truffle. Made with 100% dark Callebaut Belgian chocolate and all natural ingredients, each Truffle Gateaux is decorated by hand with pure 23 carat edible gold.

Egyptian Museum, Cairo. 600 B.C. Cats were sacred to Bastet, a sun goddess who represents the warm, life giving power of the sun. She was known as the goddess of joy and protector of women. She is usually represented as a lion or cat-headed figure. In the New Kingdom, the male cat was regarded as an incarnation of the Sun God and the female cat was equated with the solar eye. Feline figures may display a scarab, the symbol of the rising sun, engraved on the head or breast thus showing their solar significance. Hundreds of figures were set up as votive offerings in the temple of Bastet at Bubastis in order that the donor might share in the Goddess’s grace. Actual mummies of cats were buried by the thousands in special cemeteries in the area. Cats protected the temples from snakes. The ancient Egyptians held cats in the highest esteem and the penalties for injuring or killing a cat were very severe.
