“On the Greek island of Delos a Doric Temple of Isis was built on a high over-looking hill at the beginning of the Roman period to venerate the familiar trinity of Isis, the Alexandrian Serapis and Harpocrates. The creation of this temple is significant as Delos is particularly known as the birthplace of the Greek gods Artemis and Apollo who’ve had temples of their own on the island long before the temple to Isis was built. At Philae her worship persisted until the sixth century, long after the rise of Christianity and the subsequent suppression of paganism. “

Ancient Egypt: A Guide to Egypt in the Time of the Pharoahs (Sightseers)
Take a boat trip down the crocodile-infested Nile, travel by donkey to the pyramids at Giza, and hire a palanquin to complete the tour in style. This historical travel guide is packed with fascinating facts and colorful illustrations offering kids a unique and enjoyable way to look at Ancient Egypt, its people, places and customs. Looking under headings such as “Accommodation” reveals that a comfortable night’s sleep in Thebes may be hard to find since beds were made with ropes or leather straps. “Top attractions” include the recently constructed temples at Karnak and Luxor, and “Getting around” includes tips on the safest ways to travel. Kids will be amused to discover why fashionable folk pin cones of perfumed fat to their heads, how “sniffer baboons” patrol the markets for thieves, and how to avoid being roped into service in the harvest season. A fold-out map at the end of the book helps kids locate all the sites mentioned, and a “tourist quiz” lets young Egyptologists test themselves on the essential information they need to know before they go!

What are some other Ancient African civilizations that were equivalent to the success of Egypt?
Question by The Father The Son Chuck Norris: What are some other Ancient African civilizations that were equivalent to the success of Egypt?
I hear a lot Egypt this and Egypt that but what about the rest of Africa. Is the rest of the continent lost to antiquity? What great African civilizations are there that could rival the success of Egypt in ancient times.

I’m going to start making things up that sound reasonable but are actually batshit crazy, but you won’t know any better because you aren’t actually going to do the work that your teacher wants you to do.
The Typge civilization of the lower Linpopo River is notable not only for their advanced use of percussion instruments in domesticating large mammals but also for their unique monumental buildings. What makes their buildings so unique and underappreciated is that they are actually “inverted” buildings, that is they are completely subterranean. They approached the size of the great pyramid of Cheops, but were much more finely decorated. Oh, and they all had a third arm due to a genetic defect, but this allowed them to swing through trees faster than the primates that were native to their area, which is why there are so few primates left in that part of Africa.
Seriously. Don’t rely on websites like this for sources to do your homework. At the very least, do a google search for “ancient African Civilizations”. Carefully evaluate the websites that come up and use them. Better yet, use the resources that your teacher suggested.

Egyptian Dawn: Exposing the Real Truth Behind Ancient Egypt Reviews
Egyptian Dawn: Exposing the Real Truth Behind Ancient Egypt
A fascinating look into the real history of the ancient civilizations, including revelatory new evidence which challenges accepted truths about the history of Egypt.
The mysteries of Ancient Egypt have proved an endless source of fascination to the world. Here, for the first time, international bestselling author Robert Temple seeks to expose the real history of this ancient civilization. In this fascinating study, Temple unearths revelatory new evidence which challenges accepted truths about the history of Egypt and questions the evidence which most Egyptologists have relied on since 1910. In doing so he has sought to answer the two big questions which have until now been taken for granted: Where did Egyptian civilization come from? And who built the pyramids, and why?
With unprecedented access to lost portions of the valley temple which have long been closed to archaeologists, Temple presents a sensational, reconstructed story of Egypt which exposes a magnitude of previously unseen evidence, including:
Pinpointing exact locations of unopened royal tombs
Presenting re-datings of key monuments using a revolutionary
new dating technique
Exposing faked evidence which has been credulously accepted by the Egyptological community
Revealing who really built the pyramids
Unearthing the real truth about Egypt’s most amazing pyramid, Giza
Packed full of fantastic, never-before-seen photographs, which provide hard evidence to support Temple’s claims, Egyptian Dawn opens many paths to the truth in the story of Egypt.
