If the Ancient Egyptians were black why werent Josephs Brothers
able to identify him? This is a serious question, to find out the truth.
charmer, i have seen a lot of the the type of pictures you have shown, but i also saw a lot of pictures of egyptians with fairer skin. In the bible on several occasions, people could not identify between jews and egyptians, one was joseph, one was moses, i need to check for the other ones. How can somebody not be able to identify the difference between jews and blacks? Were there some blacks and non black, was it all black or was it all like jews. I saw a lot of pictures of brown egyptians.

The Egyptians of the Bible and the Jews of the Bible WERE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE… they were not the same race… which is obvious, if you would bother READING it first before you post this kind of nonsense.
no they were not the same race of people. the egyptians werent black, both groups would have had similar skin colors.

Only from what I have read do I think that the race of the ancient Egyptians was not that much different from the Jews. I also agree with one of the other people who answered this question, though. Whoever said the Ancient Egyptians were black? To the best of my knowledge modern DNA gives a tracert not so much to the Egyptians or Jews, but to the Middle East as a whole.

The story of Joseph states Joseph’s father, Jacob slept with a lot of women during his time. When sleeping and having a child with Rebekah, his favorite wife, he wanted to show his favor of him over all the other sons. He did so by giving him a “Coat of many colors”. Josephs brothers became jealous, and instead of throwing him into a pit, they sold him to a Egyptian caravan.
He eventually became a servant of the Pharaoh, and when he refused the love of his wife she accused him of trying to seduce her. He became imprisoned for this lie.
While he was imprisoned two fellow jail mates approached him having dreams they could not interpret. Divine Intervention meanwhile, had given Joseph the gift of Interpreting Dreams. He predicted seven years of good harvest and seven years of bad harvest. Pharaoh soon after heard of this, and when realization came Joseph was put in charge of crop storage.
Several years later Josephs brothers went to Egypt to purchase grain, and when they had arrived he had recognized them, but they did not recognize him. He threw them in jail to punish them, but later released them and they were reunited.
To answer your question, a couple of factors could be involved. Maybe they just denied him, they might of been disbelief. It is also possible the time in Egypt and in jail changed his appearance that much, but highly unlikely.

It’s unlikely. The Egyptians originated in the Nile valley whereas the Jews originated in Mesopatamia, modern day Iraq
Simply as Egyptians were not black, and we have many demonstrations of this :
1) Corpses and mummies
2) paintings. Their color is not black, Not only, when they drawn “Nubians” (Sudanese) they colored them of black, so they were aware of the color of their skin
3) Descriptions
4) Actual inhabitants of Egypt are not black colored (even if there have been a great influence by Arabic populations and from other populations of north Africa).
So as look Joseph would have been like the Egyptians. Language was for sure different : Jews were Semites, coming originally from Mesopotamia, and Egyptians had their own language. But for sure Joseph had learned Egyptian
