Q&A: How should visiting women wear when in Palestine and Egypt?

Question by Eleni: How should visiting women wear when in Palestine and Egypt?
I am going to Greece, Palestine, and Egypt in a couple years with a couple friends in college. I am Greek so we are going to Greece first, but will I offend the people in Palestine and Egypt if I wear regular western close? Should I be more conservative? An hijab perhaps?

I’ve been to all three of these countries, and while the people there are more often than not open to others’ customs (including the way they dress), it would be respectful of you to keep your shoulders and legs covered. I went in June, and a thin blouse and light-weight khakis worked well for me. I was comfortable in the heat, and still respectful of their religious views.

no u dont have to wear the hijab umm if ur going to the tourist spots like sharm el sheik or hurghada then wear what ever u want but if ur going to the normal cities then wear what u normally wear but id advise u to avoid any shorts/ skirts or halter tops and tank tops. nothing above the knees cuz a lot of guys will start hitting on u and stuff

In Egyptian, you are allowed to wear regular western clothes while it’s advisable to be modest as possible if you walk in public areas or free walks specially in crowded markets. You don’t need to wear Hijab unless you are going to visit religious places and they will ask you to take off the shoes or you’ll have to wear something over it before you enter.
In Palestine it’s almost the same except you need to be all the time wearing modest wear if you’ll visit Gaza or the areas where people are poor and suffering.

In Egypt you can wear whatever you like inside your hotel or normal bikini on the beach or pool. Enjoy your time and thanks for asking about it.

Just wear moderate cloth that you wear in your own country.

yes the previous answers are right
don’t worry Egyptians respect their guests and to help them is one of the sources of their pleasure ,simply because their religion encourages them to do so

but in palastine take care of yourself , palastinians are so kind but u may suffer there because of the Israeli occupation

    enjoy your time

    am not sure about Palestine,
    but here in egypt,
u can wear whatever u want, no regulations,
however, i would suggest that u wear moderately , as in no hot shorts if you would be walking in streets and stuff, and even though most guys won’t hit on tourists, just b on the safe side, if u don’t like ppl staring or so.
if you have a car driving you around , then no prob, wear whatever
if you are going to sh arm el sheikh or hurgada, marina, north coast, el ein el sokhna , basicly, any where with a beach, u can wear what so ever,

hope u would enjoy ur stay :)
