How safe is if for Americans to travel to Egypt?

Author: I’ve always wanted to see the Pyramids and the ancient ruins along the Nile. But considering how Americans are viewed, especially in the Middle East, I really don’t know how safe it would be to go there. Any other Amercians out there who have been to Egypt have any advice?
