Product Description
Blakeway Panoramas are an industry standard when it comes to panoramic photographs. This panoramic photograph of the Pyramids of Giza was taken by James Blakeway. The three largest pyramids from left to right are the pyramid of Menkaura with its subsidiary pyramids, the pyramid of Khafra, and the Great Pyramid of Khufa. The Great Pyramid of Khufa is the largest. It covers 13 acres and had an original height of 481 feet. The apex of the pyramid was probably covered with gold. Khufu’s son Khafra constructed the second pyramid slightly smaller than his father’s but similar in proportion. Khafra’s son Menkaura built his pyramid less than half the height of the previous pyramids of his father and grand father. Buy Blakeway Panoramas Today!

Finder’s Lot – 14 Roman Egypt
Product Description
Finder’s Lot – 14 Roman Egypt; references: 14 Roman Egyptian, unattributed; mostly rough; obverse reverse plus 1 Ptolemaic and 1 small Islamic, actual coins in the photo, as is – no returns; This is a finder’s lot consignment. We did not look at these coins except to count them and get a general idea of what is there to describe the lot (honest!). At just over $18 a coin, it is a gamble. There might be something worthwhile here, or perhaps not. This is a close as you can get to finding them yourself. As is, no returns. (Forum #L32675)
I?m Going to Egypt on Holiday ? How?s the Food ?
In my capacity as the UK Director of Operations for One World Tours Limited, I am often asked all kinds of travel questions. One that regularly comes up is food and so if you are planning a trip to Egypt, here is some information that may be handy to have…
Firstly, it’s not exciting, but lets talk water. Only drink bottled water. Even in hotels and restaurants, the water can be dodgy and therefore the golden rule is to only drink bottled water. This is easy to do of course, but do keep a couple of thoughts in the back of your mind. It’s not just drinking were water can end up in your system. Ice is something people often overlook and don’t forget, ice is just frozen water. Salads are another thing to think about. Salads are of course very unlikely to be washed in bottled water. So again it’s something to think about
On to the good stuff, lets talk food.
Firstly food in Egypt is very inexpensive. You can get both western and eastern dishes and there is literally everything from traditional Egyptian home cooking to, yes you’ve guessed it MacDonalds. A note here though is that the MacDonalds in Luxor has probably the best view in the world for any fast food restaurant. The top floor overlooks Luxor temple and although I am not sure as to what the pharaohs would have made of it, it really is a stunning location.
So basically we can split your dining into say three categories.
The first is international cuisine. Most of the hotel restaurants serve a full range of international meals such as Italian, Chinese, American etc and the prices will be very competitive compared to eating in western restaurants. You will find alcohol is expensive though. Breakfast is usually served in a buffet format and you will fine cereals, sweet breads, fruit juices and a full range of cooked foods like bacon, mushrooms, eggs etc
Next local cuisine. This is really inexpensive and very good indeed. You can expect to pay about ¼ of the price of a western meal. If you are travelling with a tour package, then your guide will be able to point you in the direction of a good local restaurant. If you are travelling independently then your hotel concierge should be able to do similar.
Finally fast food. Yes it may be arguably the scourge of modern living. But for some people, they at least know what they are getting and of course generally the kids love it. In all the major cities of Egypt, Like Cairo, Luxor etc you will find Macdonalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King and KFC. So if that’s what you like, you’ll be sorted and for the record you will also find that even fast food in Egypt is far, far cheaper than you would pay for exactly the same dishes ins a western fast food restaurant.
So to sum up, food just will not be an issue whatever it is you personally like to eat. My advice though, is if you are adventurous, try a local restaurant just once during your stay. The food is superb and it really is an experience to taste the local delicacies.

The Murder of Tutankhamen
Product Description
“By the time you finish his intrigue-filled reconstruction of Tutankhamen’s world–which includes such elements as teen-age love, religious heresy, the Orwellian rewriting of history and the desperate pleas of a terrified queen–you risk coming to care a good deal about the young Pharaoh’s fate.”–The New York Times
“The Murder of Tutankhamen observes the conventions of a whodunit: a compelling victim, a batch of suspects (each of whom might be the killer), a vivid setting, and a climactic gathering wherein an ace detective produces the evidence that indicts the assassin. However, the detective and the story are actual here, and it is through forensic evidence and scholarly sleuthing that Bob Brier assembles his persuasive conclusions.”–The Boston Globe
“Respected Egyptologist Bob Brier, specialist in paleopathology and host of the Learning Channel’s acclaimed series “The Great Egyptians,” believes it can. Skillfully combining known historical events with evidence gathered by advanced technologies, Brier has re-created the suspenseful story of religious upheaval and political intrigue that likely resulting in the murder of the teenage king Tutankhamen.” –Booklist* (starred review)
“A fascinating blend of ancient history, forensic medicine, and ratiocinative detective work.”–Kirkus ReviewsAmazon.com Review
For decades after the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb, the dazzling treasures found along with the mummy distracted many of us from the actual events of Tutankhamen’s life. But take a look at the body itself–cranialX-rays reveal a location on the back of the skull that may indicate a hemorrhage, perhaps one caused by a deliberate blow. The question thus arises: Was King Tut murdered?
Egyptologist Bob Brier specializes in paleopathology, the study of diseases in the ancient world. In essence, he performs high-tech autopsies on 3,000-year-old corpses. (He’s also taken part in a re-creation of Egyptian mummification techniques, including the extraction of the brain through the nasal passages.) Here, he examines the X-rays and other photographic evidence, correlating it with the research of other Egyptologists, and concludes that Tutankhamen was the victim of political and religious intrigues that developed into a fatal conspiracy. True crime buffs and historians alike will find much to like in Brier’s fast-paced recounting of his investigations.
